We welcome painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, mixed media, and experimental work. We are not simply looking for images of happiness. We are asking artists to give joy a form.

What does joy look like?

Is it a color, a memory, a sensation, an object? Is it something we can hold, preserve, collect, or contain?

Joy can be playful, rebellious, intimate, fleeting, overwhelming, or born from tragedy. It can exist in unexpected places and take forms we don’t immediately recognize.

White Horse Gallery invites artists to explore the many dimensions of joy—how we experience it, remember it, pursue it, and attempt to hold onto it.

We welcome painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, mixed media, assemblage, and experimental interpretations. Work may be colorful or subdued, humorous or serious, deeply personal or socially provocative.

Joy is not necessarily the absence of suffering. It can emerge through resistance, survival, transformation, or the reconstruction of memory.

We encourage artists to interpret the theme broadly and bring their own experiences, perspectives, and artistic language to the exhibition.

We are not simply looking for images of happiness. We are asking artists to give joy a form.

Application Opens: October 22, 2026

Application Deadline: November 8, 2026

Jury Review and Acceptance Notifications: November 9, 2026

Artwork Drop-Off: November 14–15, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 PM

Opening Reception: Friday, November 20, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM

Exhibition Dates: November 20–December 12, 2026

Closing Artist Talk and Artwork Pickup: Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM

Delivery Information: Hand delivery is preferred. Artists who need alternative drop-off arrangements may contact White Horse Gallery by email. Shipped artwork will also be accepted and must arrive by November 18, 2026. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and return shipping arrangements.

• Artist Statement: A brief artist statement describing your practice and/or the work being submitted.
• Artwork Images: Minimum 1, maximum 20 images.
• Maximum Artwork Size: 48” W × 60” H, including frame.
• Delivery: All accepted artwork preferably hand-delivered to

• Shipped artwork will be accepted, please verify by email.
• Ready to Hang: All two-dimensional work must arrive ready to hang with secure hanging hardware installed. D-rings with picture wire are preferred. Sawtooth hangers are not accepted.

Open to emerging and established artists, ages 18 and older, working in all visual art mediums. There are no geographic restrictions. Accepted artwork must be hand-delivered to
