Palm Art Gallery invites artists to submit to EYE CANDY, an exhibition celebrating the pleasure of looking. We’re seeking work that draws viewers closer and gives their eyes a reason to linger. Bold or delicate, playful or elegant, figurative or abstract: let your own visual language interpret the theme.

Some art catches your eye from across a room. You move closer. Something about the color, the light, the subject, or the sheer pleasure of the composition holds you there. You find yourself looking longer than you intended.

That moment of attraction is the starting point for EYE CANDY.

Palm Art Gallery invites artists to explore the delicious pull of an image: the way a work can charm, intrigue, dazzle, or quietly draw us in. This exhibition celebrates art that gives the eye something to enjoy—and a reason to return.

Perhaps it’s a portrait with extraordinary presence. A landscape bathed in improbable light. Fruit painted so richly you can almost feel its weight. A photograph that turns an ordinary reflection into something remarkable. Or an abstract work where two colors meet and everything suddenly comes alive.

Visual temptation takes many forms. It can be extravagant: saturated hues, elaborate patterns, lush textures, a glorious abundance of detail. It can also live in a spare drawing, a soft gradation of gray, the curve of a shoulder, or a single shape placed exactly where it belongs. An image can attract through elegance, humor, tenderness, strangeness, or sheer exuberance.

We are interested in your particular way of making us look.

Every artist develops an eye for certain things. You may return to a shade of red, the geometry of buildings, the expressions of animals, the intimacy of a face, or the shapes that emerge as you work. Those attractions become part of your artistic language. EYE CANDY is an invitation to share what fascinates you—and to make that fascination visible to someone else.

There is also pleasure in discovering how an image works. A painting’s surface changes as we approach it. A photograph reveals a small detail that rearranges the scene. A pattern leads the eye somewhere unexpected. The first attraction opens the door; continued looking lets the work unfold.

Look through your studio or portfolio for the piece that keeps catching your own eye. Perhaps it has an audacious palette, an unusual point of view, a wonderfully tactile surface, or a quiet balance you still find satisfying. Something in it makes you want to spend time with it.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

EYE CANDY is an international online art exhibition that invites painters, digital artists, photographers, and mixed-media creators to explore the emotional, cultural, and visual impact of Line, shape, and form. We welcome your interpretation if you create abstract masterpieces, surreal dreamscapes, or hyperrealistic scenes!

Artworks will be judged based on creativity, originality, quality of work, composition, and overall artistic ability.

-  Selected artworks (up to 3 per applicant) will be exhibited in an international online group exhibition organized by Palm Art Gallery.

- Other awards include a lifelong permanent link to boost artists’ online visibility and intensive exposure for selected artists to showcase their artworks to art enthusiasts, experts, and art collectors.

• Three art pieces for $32, if you wish to submit only one, submit it 3 times in order to meet the minimum requirement.

Exhibiting artists will be selected based on the quality of their single entry and the overall quality of their work. Exhibiting artists will be announced by  October 7, 2016 If you are selected for this exhibition, details will be provided via email.

Originality: Artworks must be entirely the entrant’s work without supervision. No copies or derivatives of other works.

Rights: Artists must have all rights to present and publish their artworks internationally.

Photo Requirements: Only the artwork should be visible (no frames or extraneous backgrounds).

Number of Artworks: Up to 9 original pieces can be submitted.

Other Restrictions: Artworks containing pornographic, violent, racist, or religiously hateful content are not admissible.
