The Center for Contemporary Art’s annual International Juried Exhibition celebrates contemporary art by both established and emerging artists. The Center for Contemporary Art (“The Center”) is a vibrant regional non-profit art center with studio art classes, a summer art camp, rotating exhibitions and community partnership programs.
Juror Jack Troy will select work for inclusion in the exhibition and for three cash prizes. The Center’s Exhibitions Committee will review the body of work of each artist selected and choose up to three for a solo exhibition in 2028.

ABOUT THE JUROR: Jack Troy is a potter, teacher, and writer, from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he taught at Juniata College for 39 years. He has taught more than 260 workshops in the U. S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, and other countries, and has worked at the Institute of Ceramic Studies, Jingdezhen, China; he was an Invited Artist at Japan’s Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park. His education in ceramics has included trips to 26 countries. Having published over 100 articles in ceramics publications, he also wrote Salt Glazed Ceramics, Wood Fired Stoneware and Porcelain, as well as Calling the Planet Home, and Giving it up to the Wind [poems].
His work has been exhibited widely, and is in numerous collections, public and private, including the Smithsonian Institution’s Renwick Gallery, Auckland (NZ) Museum of Art, Kalamazoo (Michigan) Institute of Art and Alfred University. He received the 2012 NCECA (National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts) Excellence in Teaching Award, and gave the closing talk, “Anecdotal Evidence,” (accessible on You Tube) at the 49th NCECA conference in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2015, and was accorded Watershed’s “Legend” status with Paula Winokur and Wayne Higby in 2017. 2027 is Jack’s 65th year as a potter.

Your entry fee goes to cover the exhibition expenses and to help sustain the galleries at The Center, a non-profit organization serving artists for more than 50 years. In addition to the International Juried Exhibition, The Center's galleries exhibit emerging artists, artists from underrepresented communities, and artists from the regional area.
SPECIFICATIONS:
The exhibition will consist of three-dimensional ceramics work. Wall-mounted pieces must be prepared and ready for hanging and no larger than 36″ X 36″. Free-standing pieces may not exceed 32″ X 32″ X 48″ or weigh more than 75 lbs. including box or crate. Work across a variety of display solutions is encouraged including video or film related to clay. Accepted work cannot be substituted and must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Please contact The Center with questions about oversize pieces or other shipping concerns before you apply.
If your entry does not meet the specifications above it will not be considered by the juror for inclusion in this exhibition.

SHIPPING/DELIVERY OF ARTWORK:
The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping or mailing artwork to and from The Center for Contemporary Art using UPS, Fed-X or USPS. A return shipping label and return postage must be included with the artwork. Artwork may also be hand-delivered to and picked up from The Center for Contemporary Art on the appropriate dates during the scheduled times.
INSURANCE AND SALE OF ARTWORK:
All artwork is insured for its declared value from the time it is received through April 6, 2027 while it is on the premises. Artists are responsible for insuring artwork during transit. The Center for Contemporary Art receives a 40% commission on all exhibition sales.
MEDIA/PUBLIC RELATIONS: The Center for Contemporary Art reserves the right to use digital images of exhibited artwork for media, website, PR and advertising.
