Forget ancient ruins.

We have receipts, broken chargers, plastic bags, VHS tapes, sneakers, screenshots, and the mysterious Tupperware lid with no matching container.

Modern Relics invites artists to explore the everyday artifacts of contemporary life—subjects we use, love, hoard, worship, discard, or somehow refuse to throw away.  Think: of the things that will be discarded, outdated or irrelevant in the future.

About the Juror:

Vallo Riberto is an American independent art curator, educator and fine artist based in San Diego, California. Best known for his extensive academic career and avant-garde art curations, he served as the Director of the Southwestern College Art Gallery and has curated prominent exhibitions across Southern California.

Riberto’s foundational knowledge spans studio arts and extensive art history. His academic pedigree includes training at some of the most prestigious art institutions in the United States.

Important Dates:

Entry deadline: October 4  11:59 p.m. PDT 

Accepted, and non-accepted, artists notification date: October 7

Delivery deadline: October 16

Exhibition opens: October 21

Opening Reception for the artists: October 24 from 4 to 7pm

Exhibition ends: November 21

Return shipping and art-pick up start: November 23

• Minimum Art Size: no side less than 10 inches
• Maximum Art Size: 52 inches in either direction
• Maximum Weight: 40 pounds
• Sculpture Max Height: 30’’
• Sculpture Max Weight: 100 pounds
• Artwork must be for sale

• Open to artists 18 years and older
• Entries must be original and created entirely by the artist. No digital art, workshop/class art, or reproductions will be accepted
• Only one piece of artwork per artist will be juried into the exhibition
• Art that has been previously exhibited at Woodward Contemporary cannot be exhibited again.
