In Practice: Annual Juried Exhibition

For over a decade, Foothills Art Center (FAC) has hosted its annual Members’ Exhibition, welcoming new artists onto our walls while celebrating the extraordinary talent of our longtime creative community.

For over a decade, Foothills Art Center (FAC) has hosted its annual Members’ Exhibition, welcoming new artists onto our walls while celebrating the extraordinary talent of our longtime creative community.

 This year, we continue that tradition under a new name: In Practice.

 The Foothills Art Center community is built around creation. There is a place for theory, but when it comes to exhibiting, artistic technique and decisions are best tested “in practice.”

 Whether you are a seasoned professional or a budding prodigy, we invite you to share your work with us. In Practice celebrates the ongoing nature of artistic creation. Art is never truly finished, and an artist's practice is never stagnant. It is a continual process of exploration, experimentation, and growth.

 The exhibition retains the same format and submission guidelines as previous years, with one important change: FAC membership is no longer required to apply. We hope this change opens the door to even more artists and perspectives within our community.

 FAC members at the Catalyst level and above receive a 50% discount on the application fee. To request your discount code, please email eriq@foothillsartcenter.org.

AWARDS

 This year we will be introducing sponsored cash prizes for works of particular not under 3 different categories:

1)      Over All Outstanding Creation $500

2)     Mastery of Medium $300

3)     Exceptional Originality $300

4)    Viewer’s Choice $300 and Invited to be the 2028 Juror 

While in the past this show has required membership at FAC, that is no longer mandatory. We still encourage you to become a member, there is a free entry level tier. See the link for details:

• $20 entry fee. Up to 3 works may be entered, with a maximum of 1 selected.
• All media are eligible, including alternative media.
• Artwork must be:
  • Original (no reproductions, exceptions made for digital works)
  • Not previously shown at FAC
• Two-dimensional work must be suitably framed and have all hardware ready for hanging - all other work must be installation ready with instructions if necessary.  
• There is no size restriction but larger works will be accessed for effective use of scale.

SELECTION

Work will be juried Foothills Art Center staff and 2026’s Viewer’s Choice Award Winner; Lee Gilliland.

 Criteria for Acceptance into FAC Members Show

•           Exceptional use of media 15%

•           Rendering of subject matter 15%

•           Effective use of color and contrast 15%

•           Originality of content 20%

•           Overall concept 15%

•           Strong use of composition 15%

•           Craftsmanship and presentation 5% (more heavily weighted for 3D works)
