Small Expressions is a juried small works exhibit designed to encourage art purchases for the gift-giving season. Small Expressions is open to artists in all media. Selected artworks shall not exceed 16 inches in any direction, including frame and mount. All submitted works must be for sale. A cash prize will be presented for the Jurors' Choice Award. Artworks will be juried online from submitted images. The exhibit will be held at Northwind Art's Jeanette Best Gallery in downtown Port Townsend from November 19, 2026 through January 4, 2027.
When work is sold at this exhibit it will be removed immediately and replaced with a new work. Selected artists will have one to three artworks displayed at a time, with a few pieces in backstock ready to replace any artworks that have been sold.
The application fee is waived for members of the historically underrepresented BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. We offer this waiver on the honor system. Use the code DISCOUNT at checkout.

Unlike most other exhibits where all selected work is up for the entirety of the show, when work is sold at this exhibit it will be removed immediately and replaced with a new work. Selected artists will have one to three artworks displayed at a time, with a few pieces in backstock ready to replace any artworks that have been sold.
Artwork will be chosen by a panel of two Northwind Art curators, local artists Kim Kopp and Anne Hirondelle. The jurors will be judging the quality, professionalism, and sales potential of the work. A maximum of seven entries may be submitted per artist. Submitted digital images should represent the quality and nature of the work. Work that is considerably different than the submitted images may not be accepted. Only one image per artwork may be submitted.

Fees:
$35 for up to seven entries.
All fees are non-refundable.
Entry fees go towards jury, awards, and exhibit operating costs.

September 25 - October 16: Jurying period
October 17: Notification of acceptance or denial to artists. All artists will be notified with an acceptance or denial letter sent to the email associated with their CaFE account.
October 17 - October 24: Accepted artists must confirm participation by signing W9 and artist
agreement contract
November 13 - November 16: Delivery of artwork to Jeanette Best Gallery, 12:00pm-5:00pm
November 19, 12:00pm: Exhibition opens to public; Jurors' Choice award announced
December 5, 5:00pm-8:00pm: First Saturday Art Walk public reception at Jeanette Best Gallery
January 4: Exhibition closes, 5:00pm
January 5: Pick up of unsold artwork, 10:00am-3:00pm
Entries are submitted through CaFE. There is a $35 entry fee (per artist, not per work). The application fee is waived for members of the historically underrepresented BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. We offer this waiver on the honor system. To apply fee-free, use the code DISCOUNT at checkout.
Artists can submit up to 7 images of their work. Each entry should include dimensions, medium, and retail price.
All artwork must be the original creation of the applying artist and must not contain imagery derived from AI.
Please be sure to read over our conditions for delivery (found in “Rules and Terms to Apply” section). If the wiring/hanging hardware does not meet our listed standards or if the work arrives without the required affixed information, we will ask you to alter it before we accept the work from you. If artworks do not meet our display requirements they may be disqualified.

Who Can Apply?
We encourage all regional artists to apply, however artists should note that all accepted artwork must be delivered in person to Northwind Art's Jeanette Best Gallery at 701 Water Street in Port Townsend. We will not accept shipped artwork nor will we ship unsold work back to artists.
