On Matter brings together ceramics and printmaking, both practices rooted in material and process. The exhibition explores how artists embrace the inherent qualities of their chosen media and how they preserve traces of their practice. Beyond physical properties, the exhibition explores why making matters and how artists transform materials into works that hold meaning.

This exhibition marks the reopening of the historic Star Store building, which was acquired by the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston and its Creative Land Trust Program, with the purpose of reimagining and reactivating the building as a public resource to benefit artists, makers, creators, and small creative businesses. On Matter will be part of this renewed vision for the Star Store, bringing artists and audiences together in celebration of the return of this important creative space. Coinciding with the New Bedford’s holiday season programming, the exhibition will also offer opportunities for participating artists to share additional work through a Holiday Market alongside other local makers. Workshops, artist talks, and other programming will provide further opportunities to engage with the artists and community throughout the exhibition.
Entry fee: $15 for three (3) entries; 1 additional detail image per piece. Application fee does not guarantee acceptance into exhibition.
