Artburst Studios "Pattern Language" - An Online Art Show Opportunity

Artburst Studios hosts dynamic online curated shows that showcase high-quality original artwork and foster meaningful connections between artists and art lovers. Selected artists and their original art are promoted to our growing network of collectors and broader audiences across multiple platforms.

We are now selecting artists for our upcoming October online show "Pattern Language" opening October 28th and running through November 11th. Each participating artist will present original pieces available for purchase through the Artburst Studios website. Artists ship sold works directly to collectors at the conclusion of the event.

We are currently selecting artists for our upcoming October 2026 Online Show, "Pattern Language", taking place October 15th-29th, 2026. Participating artists will showcase from 1-5 original fine art pieces available for purchase through the Artburst Studios website. Artists ship sold pieces directly to collectors at the conclusion of the event.

Artists having one or more pieces initially selected, will have the opportunity to have additional pieces curated in closer to the show date. 

Curator: Award winning artist, Julia Martin, will be thoughtfully curating the show. She is a Denver-based mixed-media artist whose practice brings together two formative parts of her life: a lineage of women seamstresses and a career in healthcare as a nurse-midwife. Working with paper, paint, cloth, and thread, she creates sewn paintings that explore the unseen things people carry. Repair, expressed through sewn mending, is both her process and her way of honoring and unraveling inherited ways of making and being. Martin learned to sew from the women in her family long before she spent years suturing as a nurse-midwife, where she came to understand stitching as both a practical skill and an act of care. She often carries small sewn elements with her throughout the day, allowing them to evolve through repeated additions and reconfiguration. Carrying the work keeps her connected to the making process and reminds her that everyone carries things that cannot be seen but still need care. She assembles these elements into sewn grid structures, where accumulation allows each part to hold its own while contributing to something larger. Her work has won numerous awards and is held in public and private collections throughout the United States and Canada.

Theme: “Pattern Language”

Patterns are a language. They help us understand the world, revealing relationships that might otherwise go unnoticed. They can offer order, reveal connection, or mark change. They shift, unravel, fracture, and reform, reminding us that patterns are never fixed. This exhibition invites artists to explore the many ways patterns shape perception and experience. Whether expressed through material, gesture, concept, or the act of making itself, this theme is intentionally open to interpretation. We welcome responses that engage with the idea of pattern in unexpected ways.

The Juror’s Award will be selected by curator, Julia Martin. Prize: $350
Two Honorable Mention Awards will be selected by curator, Julia Martin, Prize: $100 each

Important Dates

Applications Due: On or before September 9th, 2026

Second-Round Invitations: Sent to qualifying applicants on or before September 11th, 2026

Artwork Upload Deadline: October 2nd, 11:59pm MDT

Online Show and Sale: October 28th, 2026 (10 a.m. MDT) – November 11th, 2026 (4 p.m. MDT)
 

Review Process

Applications will be reviewed and artists will be notified if they have made it to the second round by September 11th.

Artists advancing will be invited to meet online with a member of the Artburst Leadership Team. During this meeting, team member will review show processes, timelines, and expectations as outlined in the Artist Agreement, and answer any questions.

Within 72 hours of the meeting, selected artists will receive a formal acceptance notification and a digital copy of the Artist Agreement via email. The signed agreement must be returned before the artist is officially added to the show roster.

If the October show is not the right fit, applicants may be invited to participate in a future Artburst Studios show.

 Many participating artists report:

• Sales to new collectors
• Commissions and post-show sales
• Growth in social media followers and newsletter subscribers
• Appreciation for a supportive and collaborative artist community

The majority of artists from previous shows have returned for multiple Artburst events.

• Artwork Submission Images (required): Applicants must submit photos of their artwork to be considered for the show..

Application Fee (required): Non-refundable application fee of $25.  If accepted, there are no additional fees for participation. Artburst Studios retains a 35% commission on all show sales.

Artist Statement (required): 1000 character maximum

Artist headshot (optional):  Applicants should be aware that all accepted artists will need to submit a headshot that will be used extensively in marketing materials.

Very Important Note: Upon acceptance, artists are required to attend or promptly view video replay of artist sessions, meet deadlines, actively participate in show marketing efforts, and ship all sold pieces to buyers within 72 hours of the show’s ending.

Size: Artwork of all sizes are acceptable.  All pieces must be able to be safely shipped by the artist.

Creation Timing: Sample pieces (for application purposes only) can be images of previously created/sold pieces, preferably within the last 3 years.  These sample pieces are to give us an idea of your style only and will not be included in the show collection.

Originality and Rights: All artwork must be original and entirely the work of the entrant, executed without the supervision of an instructor. Pieces must not be copies or derivatives based on other copyrighted materials. No reproductions or giclee prints will be considered.

Availability: If accepted, artists must provide 5-10 pieces of artwork that are exclusively available for sale on the Artburst site for the duration of the online show.  

Pricing: Artists set pricing and shipping fees for show pieces.
