Calling all Texas artists! The ArtCentre of Plano invites you to submit original artwork for ArtCentre of Plano: For the Love of Art Exhibition 2026, a juried exhibition celebrating the creativity, perspectives, and visual stories of artists across Texas.

Presented at the ArtCentre of Plano in Historic Downtown Plano, For the Love of Art is more than an exhibition. It is the centerpiece of the ArtCentre’s month-long season-opening celebration dedicated to honoring creativity and enriching lives through the arts. The exhibition brings together emerging and established artists working across a range of 2D and 3D media. Supported by patrons, local businesses, and art enthusiasts, the celebration shines a spotlight on the artists and stories behind the work.

Whether you are an emerging voice or a seasoned creator, this exhibition offers an opportunity to showcase your work in a meaningful way, connect with patrons and fellow artists, and compete for recognition and cash awards. It is an opportunity to share not only what you create, but also why you create.

About the Juror

We are thrilled to welcome Deborah Hartigan as the juror for the 2026 exhibition.

Deborah Hartigan is a Dallas-based abstract expressionist artist, sculptor, gallerist, curator, and art advisor with more than 40 years of experience as a practicing artist. She attended Boston College, studied in London, and earned her BFA from Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. Inspired by the natural world, her work is held in collections in the United States and abroad and has been commissioned by collectors, interior designers, and corporate clients.

Hartigan founded DHV Artworks in 2016 and opened its 5,000-square-foot gallery in the Dallas Design District in 2021. Through DHV, she represents a select group of artists and advises private and corporate clients on commissions, art placement, and collection development. Her clients include American Airlines, which hired her to curate its DFW Flagship Lounge using works from its existing collection along with more than 20 additional artworks commissioned from Hartigan.

Her experience on both sides of the gallery process, as a working artist and as a curator, provides a thoughtful foundation for evaluating artistic intent, craftsmanship, presentation, and audience impact.

Sales of Artwork

All submitted artwork must be available for sale. All artwork sales will be processed through the ArtCentre of Plano. The artist will receive 50% of the listed retail price, and the ArtCentre will retain 50%. The price submitted through CaFÉ is the final exhibition price and may not be changed after acceptance. Artist checks will be issued on December 4, 2026, and should be received by December 12, 2026.

Artist Participation

Selected artists are strongly encouraged to attend as many exhibition events as possible. These gatherings offer important opportunities to meet patrons, connect with fellow artists, and take part in the celebration surrounding the exhibition. While attendance is not required, we hope participating artists will make every effort to join us.

Our Mission

Founded in 1981, the ArtCentre of Plano has served Plano and the surrounding community for more than four decades. Its permanent home is the historic Saigling House in Haggard Park, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The ArtCentre of Plano inspires, supports, and promotes excellence, diversity, and innovation in the arts and arts education in the community.

Throughout its history, the ArtCentre has been recognized as a key promoter of the visual arts, local artists, and arts education in Plano and the surrounding community. Each year, tens of thousands of visitors receive free access to exhibitions featuring local and nationally recognized artists, artworks, and collections. The organization also provides high-quality educational programming for adults and children throughout the greater Plano community. With the support of its patrons, visitors, and community, the ArtCentre continues its legacy as an engine for the growth and development of the arts in greater Plano.

The ArtCentre of Plano, Inc. is a Texas nonprofit corporation operating as a 501(c)(3) organization and is not affiliated with any other arts organization.

Eligibility

·    Applicants must be Texas residents and at least 18 years old at the time of submission.

·    Artwork must be original and created by the submitting artist.

·    The artwork shown in the submitted image must be the artwork delivered if accepted. Substitutions are not permitted.

·    Artwork must have been completed within the last five years.

Eligible Artwork

·    Original 2D and 3D visual artwork is eligible, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, fiber, ceramics, glass, and sculpture, subject to the size, weight, safety, and display requirements stated in this call.

·    Video, performance, sound-based work, murals, and site-specific installations are not eligible.

·    Artwork created primarily through generative artificial intelligence is not eligible. Any use of generative AI in the creative process must be disclosed.

Size Limits

·    2D artwork: Maximum 36 inches on the longest side, including the frame. A 36 x 36-inch work is eligible. Artwork exceeding 36 inches in either direction is not eligible. Multi-panel works are measured according to their total installed dimensions, including required spacing.

·    3D artwork: Maximum 36 inches wide x 36 inches deep x 84 inches high, with a maximum weight of 100 lbs.

·    The dimensions submitted through CaFÉ must represent the complete, display-ready artwork, including its frame, base, or other integral presentation components.

Submission Images

·    Artists may submit a maximum of three artworks. Each artwork will be juried independently.

·    Submit one clear, accurately colored JPEG image for each 2D artwork.

·    For each 3D artwork, submit one composite JPEG showing up to three views of the same work. The composite will be treated as one artwork image and one entry.

·    Recommended image size: At least 1,920 pixels on the longest side. Images should show only the artwork, without distracting backgrounds, text, borders, watermarks, or identifying information. Larger high-quality images are welcome.

·    File name format: LastName_FirstName_Title.jpg

·    Images must accurately represent the submitted work. Artwork that differs materially from its submitted image may be declined.

Artwork Information

For each artwork, provide the title, year completed, medium or materials, height, width, depth when applicable, retail price, and a brief artwork description. All artwork must be for sale.

Important: Information submitted for accepted artwork will be used in the printed exhibition catalog. Artists are responsible for its accuracy. Changes to the title, year, medium, dimensions, or price will not be accepted after notification of acceptance.

Entry Fee

·    $35 for the first artwork

·    $5 for the second artwork

·    $5 for the third artwork

·    Maximum of three artworks and a maximum total entry fee of $45

·    All entry fees are nonrefundable.

Display Requirements

·    All accepted artwork must arrive dry, complete, undamaged, and ready for immediate display.

·    2D artwork must have D-rings and appropriate picture-hanging wire securely installed. Sawtooth hangers, clips, magnets, adhesive strips, and thumbtacks are not permitted.

·    Gallery-wrapped canvases are acceptable when the sides are finished and the work is properly wired.

·    3D artwork must be stable, safe, and suitable for pedestal or floor display without special installation unless arrangements are approved in writing in advance.

·    The ArtCentre reserves the right to decline artwork that is unsafe, improperly prepared, damaged, wet, unstable, or materially different from the submitted image.

·    Texas artists age 18 and older.

·    Applicants must maintain a primary residence in Texas at the time of submission. Artists at all career stages are encouraged to apply.
