Project Summary
The Town of Silverthorne Art Board seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to design and install an original mural on the indoor wall adjacent to the east end of the indoor track at the Silverthorne Recreation Center. The mural should give a nod to the Recreation Center and the Silverthorne community.
The mural should celebrate Silverthorne's landscape, energy, and active lifestyle through a bold design that inspires movement and connection. The finished mural should feel dynamic, immersive, and distinctly connected to Silverthorne, combining natural landscapes with modern artistic elements to create an engaging, high-energy public artwork.
Examples, possible themes, and ideas of what the Art Board is looking for include, but are not limited to:
The far-left corner of the wall, about 2 feet up from the floor, there will need to be a dedicated area for medicine ball throws. This will need to be a 4’x4’ area that is either painted black or left out of the artwork. Artists are encouraged to creatively incorporate this section of the wall into their mural.
The mural will be viewed primarily by people recreating in the track and circuit area of the Recreation Center, participating in activities such as running and walking on the track, strength training and stretching. See pictures of the wall and area attached.
The area designated for the mural is currently under construction. As you can see in the attached photos, there are areas on the far right and left side with temporary construction walls up, so you cannot see the full wall in the photo. In the attached photos, you will also see photos of what the area looks like inside these construction walls for reference.
If it is helpful to view the wall in person before submitting a proposal, contact Sydney Drake at sdrake@silverthorne.org to schedule a time.
Mural Specifics
The wall designated for this installation is approximately 83 feet long and 12 feet high. Total square footage of the wall is approximately 996 square feet. It is expected that this installation will cover at least 75% of this area. The mural can also be wrapped around the wall on the left corner to create more flow and less of a rectangular mural.
