The Hotel Willa Artist-in-Residence Program, managed by The Paseo Project, invites artists across all disciplines to apply for the 2027 residency in Taos, New Mexico. This four-week residency offers a unique opportunity to live and create in the vibrant cultural landscape of Taos, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Southwest.
Residency Details:
Location: Hotel Willa, Taos, NM
Residency Duration: 1 month, for the months of: February, March, April, July, August, October, November and December 2027
Support Provided: Housing, studio space, bicycle, discounts at on-site restaurant.
Eligibility: In an effort to foster community throughout the rural Southwestern high desert, the residency is open to artists, makers, writers, and creatives working in all disciplines who live or work in the Four Corners region or within a 300-mile radius of Taos, New Mexico. Not applicable for Taos County residents.

The Hotel Willa Artist-in-Residence Program, activated by The Paseo Project, invites artists across all disciplines to apply for the 2027 residency in Taos, New Mexico. This four-week residency offers a unique opportunity to live and create in the vibrant cultural landscape of Taos, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Southwest.
Artists will have the time, space, and inspiration to develop new work in a supportive, immersive environment, with the freedom to focus on their creative process.
The program hosts one artist-in-residence at a time. The residency is in a public setting at Hotel Willa. This is a self-directed residency. No pets allowed.
Artists are invited to offer an artist talk and an open studio on the third Thursday of their residency.
Eligibility:
Open to artists working in any art form, including but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, multimedia, culinary, and interdisciplinary projects. At this time we are not able to accommodate couples or families.
For this residency, there is no community engagement requirement. Artists are encouraged to use the time for their own creative process.

Accommodation Information
Artist is provided a private one-bedroom suite on site at Hotel Willa. Includes small kitchenette. Located downtown, it is a five minute walk to Taos Plaza. We recommend having a car as public transportation is limited. A bike is available for use during the residency.
Studio Information
A private, on-site studio space is provided. The studio is outfitted with work surfaces, chair, easel, trash can, sink, desk lamp, rolling cart, and cutting mat.
Financial Support
There is no financial support offered at this time. Artists are responsible for travel, materials, and meals. Artist is provided on-site restaurant discounts/vouchers.
Technical Information
Artists provide all necessary technical equipment they need to comfortably carry out their work.
Location
Taos, New Mexico, USA is a centuries-old art community and home to Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO protected site and the oldest continually inhabited community in North America. Taos is a remote town, please plan accordingly.
Hotel Willa:
Once a motel built in the 1940s, now reimagined as Hotel Willa, a local art-filled hotel in Taos’ historic district. Developed by The Casetta Group, Hotel Willa is a modern, art-forward destination. The Paseo Project:
The Paseo Project is excited to continue their engagement with the community of Taos with the Hotel Willa AIR program. The Paseo Project started in 2014 as an outdoor arts festival connecting the 40th annual Taos Fall Arts Festival in the Downtown Historic District of Taos, New Mexico. In its 12th year, The Paseo Project hosts year-round projects, collaborations, and public art initiatives, including their signature PASEO Biennial festival.
