Home Town East North Richland Hills Owner's Association, seeks proposals for a Sculpture Bench for permanent placement in a large, open lawn area within the neighborhood adjacent to a busy walking trail and large creek. Seating element to comfortably fit 2-3 people, and be integrated into the overall creative sculpture design. Themes of nature encouraged. Sculptures with a strong vertical presence (approx 6-8 ft) will best visually command the large open lawn site.
North Richland Hills Hometown East community requests proposals (RFP) for a sculpture that includes a 2-3 person seating element, to be placed along a highly utilized hike & bike trail, overlooking scenic Walker's creek.
Themes of nature are strongly encouraged. Family-friendly, easily relatable subject matter will be positively received.
Selected artists will be invited to create a maquette of their original design, to present to the art committee, for a small stipend. Considerations include all costs of fabricating the artwork, transportation, delivery & installation. (The NRH-East Art Fund will pay for the concrete pad or piers.)
The sculptural art bench needs to be as maintenance free as possible and made of quality, durable materials. Though a functional art project that can comfortably seat a minimum of 2-3 people, this should be approached creatively first as a sculpture and work of collectible art. Think form first, with a seating element as a cohesive, intended part of the overall design.
In choosing materials for the seating element, keep in mind the sculptural art bench will be placed in an open lawn area in full Texas sun, and people will sit down on it (in shorts). The site is quite large and open lawn area, therefore sculptures with a strong vertical presence will be most visible & prominent.
This call is open to Texas artists. The artwork may be existing work from the artist's inventory, or a design created specifically for this commission.
Please submit concept drawings or photos of your proposed artwork, including approximate dimensions, materials, and finish to be used.
Include information about your inspiration and message you want your work to convey.
