Business for the Arts Broward invites Florida muralists to apply for the 2nd annual BFA Art Walls Mural Fest, a two-day outdoor festival at Huizenga Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, March 13 & 14, 2027.

Twelve muralists (6 established, 6 emerging) will be selected to create live murals on 8’x 8’ pop up murals, each paired with a local nonprofit partner. Artists will also be showcased during the Art & Spirits pre-event (March 11,2027).

Eligibility: Open to Florida-based muralists, with preference for South Florida artists. Both established (10+ murals) and emerging (1–10 murals) 

Compensation:

Established Artists: $2,250 mural honorarium plus up to $500 reimbursement for approved supplies.

Emerging Artists: $1,250 mural honorarium plus up to $500 reimbursement for approved supplies.

COMPENSATION

Established Artists: $2,250 mural honorarium plus up to $500 reimbursement for approved supplies.

Emerging Artists: $1,250 mural honorarium plus up to $500 reimbursement for approved supplies.

Additional benefits include:

• Live mural creation during a high-profile public event.
• Art & Spirits pre-event and additional promotional opportunities surrounding the festival.
• Build connections with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, fellow muralists, art collectors, the business community, and future collaborators.
• Murals will be donated to partner nonprofit organizations, providing lasting visibility and meaningful community impact.

PROJECT DETAILS

Twelve muralists (6 established and 6 emerging) will be selected to create live on 8' x 8' freestanding pop up murals installed at Huizenga Park, 32 E Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.

Each muralist will be paired with a local nonprofit organization and will create a mural inspired by that organization's mission, impact, or values while maintaining their own artistic style and voice.

Selected artists will also be featured during the Art & Spirits Pre-Event on March 11, 2027, providing additional exposure to sponsors, collectors, business leaders, and community supporters.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

A mural festival built on purpose! The BFA Art Walls Mural Fest will transform Huizenga Park and Downtown Fort Lauderdale into a vibrant cultural destination celebrating the intersection of art, community, and philanthropy. Twelve muralists will create live murals throughout the weekend while engaging with nonprofit partners and festival attendees.

The event will feature live art, performances, community engagement activities, nonprofit participation, and opportunities for the public to connect directly with artists and cultural organizations. The festival is free and open to the public.

ABOUT ART & SPIRITS

Art & Spirits is the official pre-festival celebration of BFA Art Walls Mural Fest. Held on March 11, 2027, the event will introduce the selected muralists and nonprofit partners to sponsors, collectors, business leaders, and community supporters prior to the festival weekend.

Applicants must submit via CaFE:

• Indicate whether you are applying as an Emerging or Established Muralist.
• Artist bio.
• 10–15 images of previous mural or large-scale public art projects (include project budget in the "Price" field when available).
• Brief statement describing your interest in participating in the festival and your experience creating public art.

Open to Florida-based muralists, with preference given to South Florida artists.

Both established muralists (10 or more completed public art or mural projects) and emerging muralists (1–10 completed public art or mural projects) are encouraged to apply.

Artists should be open to collaborating with a nonprofit partner and incorporating elements of the organization's mission, impact, or values into the mural design while remaining true to their own creative aesthetic.
