The Color of Emotion is an international online exhibition presented by Palm Gallery, inviting artists from around the world to explore the powerful connection between color and feeling.
Before emotion becomes language, it often appears as color: the red of passion, the blue of solitude, the yellow of hope, the violet of mystery, the white of silence, or the black of grief. This exhibition asks artists to translate inner experience into visual form and to show how color can express what words often cannot.
Artists working in all mediums and styles are welcome, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, collage, glass, AI-assisted art, and experimental practices. Both abstract and figurative works are encouraged.
The Color of Emotion
An International Online Exhibition by Palm Gallery
Before we find the words, we feel.
A flash of joy.
A wave of grief.
A burst of passion.
A quiet sense of peace.
A memory that returns without warning.
Emotion is one of the most universal human experiences, yet it remains one of the most difficult to explain. We can describe what happened, but not always what it awakened inside us. We can name love, sorrow, desire, hope, fear, or serenity, but words often fall short of capturing their full intensity.
Color, however, has always had the power to reach us instantly.
A deep blue can suggest calm, distance, melancholy, memory, or solitude.
A vibrant red can express passion, courage, anger, desire, or life itself.
A luminous yellow may radiate hope, warmth, optimism, or awakening.
A veil of violet may evoke mystery, spirituality, transformation, or the unknown.
Soft whites may speak of silence, purity, absence, or surrender.
Dark tones may carry grief, depth, power, or introspection.
For centuries, artists have used color not only to decorate the surface of an artwork, but to reveal the invisible life beneath it. Color can move through a painting like music. It can give emotional weight to a photograph. It can transform a sculpture, energize an abstract composition, soften a portrait, or turn a simple shape into a profound statement.
The Color of Emotion invites artists from around the world to explore this powerful relationship between color and feeling.
This exhibition welcomes works that use color as a language of emotion, memory, energy, identity, and human connection. Artists may interpret the theme through bold abstraction, expressive portraiture, symbolic imagery, landscape, still life, conceptual work, geometric composition, photography, sculpture, textile, digital media, or experimental forms.
We are looking for works that feel alive — works that communicate something personal, poetic, intense, quiet, joyful, mysterious, vulnerable, or deeply human.
Artists may explore emotions such as joy, love, hope, wonder, freedom, serenity, passion, desire, nostalgia, vulnerability, longing, resilience, transformation, grief, solitude, inner peace, or any emotional state that color can reveal.
Palm Gallery welcomes artists working in all styles and mediums, including oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, photography, digital art, AI-assisted art, collage, printmaking, assemblage, and contemporary or experimental practices.
Both abstract and figurative works are encouraged. Submissions may be subtle or dramatic, minimal or complex, intimate or universal. What matters most is the emotional presence of the work and the artist’s ability to use color as a meaningful form of expression.
This exhibition is open to artists internationally and offers an opportunity to present your work to a wider audience through Palm Gallery’s online platform.
