ShadowBoxX Gallery invites artists working in analog media to submit work for MYTHOS NEGRA, a juried exhibition exploring dark mythology, folklore, and archetype. We seek works that embody themes such as the femme fatale whose allure brings ruin, the tragic figure complicit in their own downfall, or the wrathful deity dispensing arbitrary punishment. Submit works that confront the seductive, destructive, and terrifying forces embedded in mythic narratives
MYTHOS NEGRA explores the shadowed realms of myth, superstition, and folklore that emerge from humanity's deepest fears. Across cultures and generations, art has given form to the inexplicable cruelties of human nature and the unforgiving realities of the world, in an attempt to explain or justify these realities. This exhibition invites artists to examine the dark archetypes, cautionary tales, supernatural forces, or imagined terrors that have shaped collective belief. Personal myths and ritual are also rich areas for exploration.
Open to professional and emerging artists. Eligible works include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, collage, assemblage, textile, ceramics, photography (film-based or darkroom), and other physically produced processes. Digital artwork, digital manipulation, and AI-generated work will not be considered.
