William Scofield Gallery invites submissions of fiber and textile-based works for our exhibition, Texture. This juried exhibition invites contemporary fiber and textile artwork that explores surface, material, and tactile qualities. From subtle variations in stitch, weave, and fabric to richly layered and dimensional constructions, this exhibition highlights the many ways texture shapes visual experience. Highly textured surfaces are not required, but texture should play a meaningful role in the work.

Texture

William Scofield Gallery invites submissions of contemporary fiber and textile artwork for Texture, a juried group exhibition exploring the role of surface, material, structure, and tactile experience in fiber-based art.

Texture is one of the defining qualities of fiber and textile media. It can be found in the subtle rhythm of a woven surface, the accumulation of hand stitching, the layering of materials, the dimensionality of soft sculpture, or the visual complexity created through innovative processes and techniques. Whether quiet and understated or bold and highly dimensional, texture has the power to shape how we experience a work of art.

This exhibition seeks work that demonstrates a thoughtful engagement with texture as a visual, material, or conceptual element. Artists are encouraged to consider how texture influences perception, conveys meaning, creates atmosphere, or contributes to the overall impact of the work. Submissions may explore texture through traditional textile processes, contemporary approaches, experimental techniques, or interdisciplinary practices that remain grounded in fiber and textile media.

Eligible works may include, but are not limited to, weaving, embroidery, quilting, felting, basketry, mixed-media fiber work, soft sculpture, fiber installation, surface design, textile-based photography, and other fiber-adjacent practices. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works are welcome.

Texture may be subtle or pronounced, tactile or implied, structural or decorative. Highly textured surfaces are not required; however, texture should play a meaningful role in the work.

William Scofield Gallery is dedicated to presenting contemporary fiber and textile art that expands perceptions of the medium and highlights the innovation, skill, and creative vision of today's fiber artists. We look forward to seeing the diverse ways artists interpret and engage with texture through their work.

• Entry Limits: up to 3 works may be submitted per artist.
• Images: Each work should include 1 full image. (1200 pixel on longest side) multiple images are allowed when entering only 1 work.

• Non-Refundable entry fee of $30 covers submission of up to 3 artworks. Entry fees are non-refundable except for withdrawals requested before jurying begins, in which case a $5 admin fee will be deducted.

  • Local artists (in the greater Vancouver/Portland metro area) may request a discount code by emailing the gallery prior to submission.
• Maximum size: 
• Wall hung work: Max 72” H. x 48“W x 6“D Artwork must be professional framed, mounted or otherwise prepared for exhibition. Ceiling-mounted installations cannot be accommodated.
• 3D work (free-standing) Max 72” H x 24” W x 24” D
• All work must be ready to hang or display Coated wire is preferred for wall work. Free-standing work must be stable and self-supporting.
• Sales: All Work must be available for sale.  The gallery retains a commission on all sales (See rules and Terms)
• Submission Format: all submissions must be made through the Cafe platform. Only complete entries that follow all guidelines will be considered”

• Open to artist 18+ working in fiber, textile or fiber-adjacent media, natural materials.
• Submitted work must be primarily fiber or textile-based, including (but not limited to) hand or machine stitching, quilting, weaving, felting, soft sculpture, embroidery, mixed media, with strong fiber based components.
• Both 2D and 3D works are eligible.
• Work must be original, created by the submitting artist and completed within the last five years.
• Artwork must be ready to hang and professionally presented.
• Work previous exhibited at William Scofield Gallery is not eligible.
• Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery, including any customs fees or international documentation.
