Signature Public Sculpture for Fort Pierce City Hall

The City of Fort Pierce is pleased to announce a public art opportunity for professional artists or artist teams to design, fabricate, and install a landmark sculpture in front City Hall. This prominent location along a major thoroughfare offers exceptional visibility and calls for a bold, iconic work of art that reflects the character and aspirations of the Fort Pierce community.

The City seeks a breathtaking sculptural work that will serve as a defining symbol of Fort Pierce. The selected artwork should:

• Capture the spirit, culture, and identity of Fort Pierce
• Create a strong sense of arrival at City Hall
• Demonstrate artistic excellence, originality, and ambition
• Engage viewers from both pedestrian and vehicular perspectives
• Enhance civic pride and become a recognizable city landmark
• Be durable, safe, and suitable for long‑term outdoor display in Florida’s climate

Artist or artist teams are encouraged to propose concepts that are visually striking, forward‑thinking, and memorable.

• Visibility: High‑traffic corridor with significant daily vehicle and pedestrian activity
• Installation Type: Permanent, outdoor sculpture
• Environmental Conditions: Must withstand sun exposure, humidity, coastal air, and seasonal weather

A detailed site plan will be provided to shortlisted finalists.

Applicants must submit the following materials for consideration:

1. Letter of Interest A narrative describing the artist’s approach, experience, and connection to the project vision.
2. Portfolio of Work Up to 10 images of completed projects, with emphasis on public art or large‑scale sculpture.
3. Résumé/CV For the artist or all members of the artist team.
4. Preliminary Concept Statement A brief description of the proposed artistic direction (no renderings required at this stage).
5. Project Timeline Outline of all major phases of work. The timeline should identify key milestones from design development through fabrication, delivery, and installation.
6. Professional References Contact information for at least three individuals familiar with the artist’s public art projects.
7. Artist website and/or social media links Proven ability to execute projects of similar scope
8. Maintenance and Protection Plan Should identify the materials used in the sculpture; whether the artwork requires sealant or protective coating; type of sealant recommended and its expected lifespan and any reapplication schedule or long-term maintenance needs
9. Budget up to $50,000 A comprehensive project budget will include:

• Artist design fee
• Fabrication and materials
• Engineering and permitting
• Transportation and installation
• Insurance and contingency

• Professional artists or artist teams with demonstrated experience in large‑scale public art
• Artists capable of managing all phases of design, engineering, fabrication, and installation
