Chandra Cerrito / Art Advisors is developing a pre-qualified Interior Artist Pool for a pediatrics hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area’s East Bay. This world-class hospital serves diverse patients from all economic backgrounds, with ages ranging from infants to young adults. The New Hospital Building (NHB) has multiple opportunities for interior artworks throughout the building.
The wall-mounted artworks will strongly appeal to children of all ages while also engaging adult family members, hospital staff, visitors, and the broader community. The architectural designs for the NHB building are led by the theme of Temescal Creek, one of the key waterways that flows from the East Bay hills to the San Francisco Bay. The Temescal Creek will be a primary guide for major wayfinding artwork pieces on each floor, though many artworks selected for this project may not be directly related to the theme.
This Call is limited to first 250 applications submitted.
Introduction
Chandra Cerrito / Art Advisors is developing a pre-qualified Interior Artist Pool for a pediatrics hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area’s East Bay. This world-class hospital serves diverse patients from all economic backgrounds, with ages ranging from infants to young adults. The New Hospital Building (NHB) is an extension of the hospital’s existing campus and is expected to open in late 2031.
Art Program
NHB has multiple opportunities for interior artworks throughout the building. Artworks will strongly appeal to children of all ages while also engaging adult family members, hospital staff, visitors, and the broader community. The art program will enhance the healing environment, celebrate the cultural richness of the area, and feature artworks that express or promote ingenuity, innovation, creativity, experimentation, and thoughtful engagement.
The architectural designs for the NHB building are led by the theme of Temescal Creek, one of the key waterways that flows from the East Bay hills to the San Francisco Bay. This creek, including its ecology and inhabitants, will inspire interior design elements and colors throughout the new building. The Temescal Creek theme will be a primary guide for major wayfinding artwork pieces on each floor. Though artworks throughout the interior may be in conversation with creek elements incorporated into the interior design, many works selected for this project may not be directly related to the theme.
