Summer Open Juried Exhibition

WEST PORTAL GALLERY invites artists residing in the greater San Francisco Bay Area to submit artwork for its Summer Open Juried Exhibition. This exhibition will highlight the depth and diversity of creative practice in our region and celebrate the role of art in community life. Works will be juried by volunteer members of Azgour Art Group (azgourartgroup.com) and professionally presented in salon style in the gallery, accompanied by an opening reception. As a new community-based contemporary art space, West Portal Gallery is dedicated to presenting high-quality, accessible artwork while providing opportunities for artists and local residents to connect through exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs. Founded in 2025, the gallery is becoming a vibrant gathering place for artists and art enthusiasts alike.

Important Dates

·       Deadline to Apply: Extended to 07/24/26

·       Exhibition Dates: 08/28/26 – 10/01/26

·       Opening Reception: 09/11/26, 5:30 – 7:30 PM

·       Artwork Pickup: 10/02/26 – 10/06/26

Artwork Drop-off

Accepted artworks must be dropped off in person during one of the following times:

·       Friday, Aug 21: 9 AM – 3 PM

·       Saturday, Aug 22: 11 AM – 5 PM

·       Sunday, Aug 23: 11 AM – 3 PM

·       Monday, Aug 24: 9 AM – 3 PM

·       Tuesday, Aug 25: 9 AM – 3 PM

Artwork Pickup

Accepted artworks must be picked up in person during one of the following times:

·       Friday, Oct 2: 9 AM – 3 PM

·       Saturday, Oct 3: 11 AM – 5 PM

·       Sunday, Oct 4: 11 AM – 3 PM

·       Monday, Oct 5: 9 AM – 3 PM

·       Tuesday, Oct 6: 9 AM – 3 PM

IMPORTANT: All artworks must be dropped off and picked up in person. We cannot accommodate artworks shipped to or from the gallery.

Submission Materials

·      Images:

o   Up to 3 images included in the base fee of $40

o   Up to 7 additional images for $10 each

·      Each image should include in the file name:

o   Artist Name

o   Artwork Title

·      Artist Statement (max 1000 characters)

Entry Fee

·      $40 for up to 3 pieces

·      $10 for each additional piece

·      Maximum of 10 images per artist

Open to artists residing in the greater San Francisco Bay Area:

·      San Francisco Bay Area: San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties.

·      Central Valley: Sacramento, Yolo, and San Joaquin counties.

·      Central Coast: Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties.

Artists must be 18 years or older.

All media and styles are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, printmaking, fiber, and digital art.

Artwork must be original and created within the last three years.

All work must be fitted with hangers and ready to hang. 

All artwork must be either framed or presented with neatly wrapped and painted sides (no exposed staples). We reserve the right to remove any work that does not meet our exhibition standards or that differs from the work originally accepted.
