Echoes of Valor

Artspiration Frederick is excited to announce a call for artists for its first Veteran art exhibition, on display in the Artspiration Gallery from November 7, 2026, through November 29, 2026. Echoes of Valor is an art exhibition honoring the creative voices, lived experiences, and artistic excellence of military veterans, military families, and those exploring themes of military service. 

Artspiration Frederick is excited to announce a call for artists for its first Veteran Art Exhibition, on display in the Artspiration Gallery from November 7, 2026, through November 29, 2026. Echoes of Valor is an art exhibition honoring the creative voices, lived experiences, and artistic excellence of military veterans, military families, and those exploring themes of military service. Artists are encouraged to submit original work in any visual medium, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, fiber art, ceramics, mixed media, digital art, and other forms of creative expression. The exhibition seeks to showcase a diverse range of artistic voices, perspectives, techniques, and subject matter.

• Exhibition dates: November 6 - 29, 2026
• Deadline for entries: October 11, 2026
• Juror’s Notification emailed the week of: October 19, 2026
• Artists Reception: November 14, 2026, 3:00-5:00
• Drop off accepted works dates: October 26-27, 2026
  • 10:00 - 4:00
• Shipped works must arrive by: October 26, 2026 (Shipping is at the cost of the artist; return shipping label must be included)
• Pick up dates after the close of the exhibit: 
  • November 30 & December 1, 2026 
    • 10:00 - 4:00
    • (unsold work will be shipped back to the artist at this time at artist expense)
• The gallery admission is free and open to the public, and handicap accessible.
   

Juried by Veteran/artist Cynthia Scott-Johnson and Russ Hodge. They are the owners of Gaslight Gallery in Downtown Frederick, MD as well as Three Roads Communications.

Procedures & Requirements:

• All entries must be completed online by 11:59 EST on October 11, 2026, through CaFÈ. You will need to set up a free account at callforentry.org
• A nonrefundable $35 entry fee is required at the time of application.
• All 2-dimensional works must be properly framed, and a wire for hanging must be attached securely to the back. Absolutely no sawtooth hangers. We encourage you to frame your work simply.
• ARTWORK IDENTIFICATION
  All accepted work must have a label SECURELY attached to the back (2D) or base (3D) of the artwork, with the following information:
  - Artist Name / Title of Art / Price
• Please make sure that your prices are correct in your CaFE portfolio. We will not accept price changes once a piece is entered for application to this exhibit.
• You must submit a high-resolution image (300 dpi) for the jury process. AF will use submitted images of accepted works for concurrent online exhibit, documentation, and promotional materials for this exhibit.
• Shipping materials will be kept for returning work. Only boxes, crates, and bins with proper labels, including the artist’s contact information and the name of the piece, will be kept for repackaging. Boxes and such may include paper & wraps. NO PACKING PEANUTS PLEASE
• Works left at AF more than 30 days past the pick-up dates (December 4, 2026) become the property of Artspiration Frederick, and will no longer be stored, and written proof of charitable contribution will be issued for its stated value. Open to visual artists 18 years and older residing in the continental US..
• Artists may submit up to 3 works that have not been previously exhibited at Artspiration Frederick.
• All entries must be for sale.

Artists must meet ONE of the following:
• U.S. Military Veteran (all branches)
• Active Duty / Reserve / National Guard
• Military Family Member
• Civilian artist created work addressing military or veteran themes
All media accepted (2D, 3D, ceramics, sculpture, photography, mixed media, etc.)
Work must be original
Work must be exhibition-ready

Artists residing in the continental US.

You may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration; up to 3 may be selected.
