PUBLIC ART IN PARKER
The Town of Parker has elevated the importance of public art in the community through the development and adoption of a Public Art Master Plan in 2024. The Plan provides a comprehensive framework to guide the Town of Parker with a plan for the siting and staging of art in any media in the public domain. Parker’s new Town Hall is an important public space for the community, and this new artwork will be an investment for the entire community to enjoy.
DESCRIPTION OF TOWN HALL PROJECT
The Town of Parker recently completed an expansion to its Town Hall in downtown Parker and is currently in the process of renovating the older portion of the building. The entire facility will open at the end of the summer and features brightly lit atrium spaces for the community and Parker staff and officials. More information about the Town Hall Project is available on the Town of Parker website.
TWO-DIMENSIONAL ART FOR PARKER TOWN HALL
The town of Parker has set aside funding for the purchase of new two-dimensional artwork for specific public locations within the new Town Hall. These are prominent walls where the public will be able to circulate, access Town Services and Courts as well as attend Town Council meetings and other gatherings.
Parker owns significant works of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork as part of its permanent public art collection. For this project, the Town is seeking larger-sized (see dimensions below) two dimensional or bas relief artwork in any medium or material (including ceramic, metal, photography, fiber, painting, drawing, mixed-media. etc.) to be hung on walls in the New/Renovated Town Hall public areas. The artwork should be available for immediate purchase and installation for the opening of the building in late Summer of 2026. If the artwork you have available is not framed and ready to hang, please make note of that in your submission, as it will be an additional cost to the Town for which we will need to account.
ARTWORK CRITERIA
Please submit photos of available artwork that fit the following criteria only. Non-conforming artwork will be removed from consideration.
1. Colorado Artists Only: This project is open to Colorado-based artists only (artists who live and work in Colorado at least half of the year). Artists from the Parker region are highly encouraged to submit their work.
2. Themes/Subject Matter: There are no restrictions regarding specific themes, subject matter, style, or genre for this project. However, it is critical that the artwork be tasteful, of the highest quality and somehow connect with the Parker community and/or history. Artwork can be thematically related to Parker’s history or contemporary interpretations of the region’s history and landscape (rural, agricultural, railroads, Native American heritage, ranching, Mainstreet, etc.). Artwork may be abstract or figural or anywhere in between.
3. Materials/Media: Artwork in any medium or material (including ceramic, metal, photography, fiber, painting, drawing, mixed media, etc.) will be considered.
4. Dimensions:
a. There are at least ten large walls that are being considered for new artwork placement. We are seeking larger-sized works of art of at least 4’ x 6’ (portrait or landscape orientation) in order to fill these large and prominent wall spaces. Works must be this size or larger (largest space can house artwork up to 6’ x 15’ -landscape orientation). Works can be considered as stand-alone pieces or groups of smaller works of art intended to be hung together (diptych, triptych, etc.).
b. There is one high wall at the main entrance for which we seek a high-visibility work of art that is more linear in orientation—potentially up to 6’ x 20.’ This artwork is likely to be composed of multiple elements, hung together.
c. NOTE ABOUT DIMENSIONS: we understand that these are larger-sized works of art we are seeking. If you would like to submit smaller works of art for consideration and there is an opportunity for you to produce similar work(s) in larger size(s), please note that in your slide list or slide description(s).
5. Budget: Each work of art should be priced according to its size and materials according to the artist’s wishes. The per-piece budget is not set, but the overall budget for purchasing all works of art will not exceed $75,000. The stated pricing should include the frame (if included) and all artwork components and cost for delivery to Parker. Pricing need not include hanging hardware.
6. Restrictions: Artwork may not contain obscenity, nudity, sexual symbols, gang related content, profanity, racial slurs, violent scenes or political, religious or sacrilegious content of any kind.

Artists may submit up to five individual works of art for consideration.
