This initiative distinguishes itself by situating selected works within the historic and intellectually vibrant environment of the University of Cambridge. Exhibitors present their work in proximity to colleges such as St John’s, along pathways connecting the River Cam to the city centre—areas frequented daily by scholars, students, visiting fellows, and international guests. The exhibition extends beyond a single venue, engaging audiences moving through Cambridge’s academic courtyards, market square, and cultural corridors, with visibility that naturally reaches the broader London area. Artists are not only displaying their work; they are placing it within one of the world’s most storied academic landscapes, where contemporary ideas meet centuries of tradition.
The show will be occurring in the final week of May in City Centre, nearby King's College Chapel.
This open-theme exhibition will present a curated selection of works reflecting PJAS’s commitment to creative rigor, intellectual exploration, and cross-disciplinary dialogue. Rather than prescribing a singular subject, the exhibition invites artists to submit work that embodies clarity of vision and depth of inquiry—pieces that engage thoughtfully with form, concept, and contemporary culture.
Selected works will be positioned within the broader cultural landscape of Cambridge, including areas near the University of Cambridge, St John’s College, and the historic city centre. From the River Cam pathways to the Market Square and surrounding academic corridors, the exhibition situates contemporary artistic practice within one of the world’s most storied intellectual environments. The setting offers engagement with a dynamic international audience of students, scholars, visiting fellows, and cultural visitors, while maintaining proximity to the wider London arts ecosystem.
To apply, artists may submit high-resolution images of up to twenty artworks per application, including titles, dimensions, and medium for each piece. A brief artist statement (150–300 words) should accompany the submission, outlining the conceptual and material foundations of the work.
The show will be occurring in the final week of May in City Centre, nearby King's College Chapel.
Early applications must be submitted by our regular deadline and will be reviewed by a panel of representatives from PJAS. Selected artists will be notified via email shortly thereafter.
It is important that all submitted works are original creations by the artist and have not been previously exhibited in Cambridge. The artworks should resonate with the themes of creativity, intellectual exploration, and cultural impact that are central to PJAS.
