Eyes - 2026 (3rd Juried Annual Exhibition, Promotion, Sales)

Exhibit the eyes’ beauty, power, and mystery through art

Exhibizone proudly presents EYES 2026, the 3rd juried annual exhibition, promotion, and sales art opportunity to express the beauty, power, and mystery of eyes through art.

EYES, often called the windows to the soul, the profound expressiveness and intricacy of eyes can be conveyed through the portrayal of eyes, making them an enticing subject in visual art. From the beguiling smile of the Mona Lisa to the haunting intensity of Edvard Munch's "The Scream," eyes have served as both the focal point and a powerful narrative tool in countless masterpieces.

For EYES 2026, there are vast opportunities in portraiture, surrealism, symbolism, social commentary, and abstract art for artists to explore. It encompasses a wide range of interpretations, such as human and animal eyes, eyes in nature, technological eyes, and eyes of the future.

All abstract and representational artworks, in any 2D and 3d mediums, are welcome.

Exhibit the eyes’ beauty, power, and mystery through art

What do eyes reveal to you? A glance, a gaze, a silent story waiting to be told?

Exhibizone proudly presents EYES 2026, the 3rd annual juried art exhibition, promotion, and sales event—a global celebration of the beauty, power, and mystery of eyes in all their forms.

Beyond the Gaze: Why Eyes Matter in Art

Eyes are more than a subject; they are a universal language—a bridge between souls, a portal to emotions, and a timeless symbol of human connection. Throughout art history, eyes have drawn viewers into deeper realms of meaning, curiosity, and emotion. From the haunting gaze in Edvard Munch’s "The Scream" to the mesmerizing stare of da Vinci’s "Mona Lisa," eyes tell stories words cannot.

For centuries, artists have painted, sculpted, and imagined eyes—not just as physical features, but as symbols of truth, wisdom, surveillance, spirituality, and identity. EYES 2026 invites artists to explore this profound theme through their unique artistic lenses, interpreting eyes as more than mere sight—they are perception, intuition, and the very essence of being seen.

Expanded Themes & Categories for EYES 2026

This year, we are offering an even broader spectrum of artistic exploration. Submit your artwork in any medium—abstract or representational, digital or traditional, 2D or 3D—across the following expanded categories:

The Soul’s Reflection: Human & Animal Eyes: Capture the depth of emotions in human and animal eyes. The glimmer of hope, the weight of sorrow, the intensity of love—every gaze tells a story. Explore the silent language of the eyes through realism, expressionism, and imaginative interpretations.

Eyes as Symbols: The Metaphorical & Mystical Gaze: Eyes in art often go beyond the physical—serving as metaphors for awareness, truth, enlightenment, and perception. Create works that explore symbolic eyes, from the all-seeing eye to dreamlike visions of surrealist wonder.

Nature’s Watchful Eyes: Nature is filled with stunning and mysterious eyes—the hypnotic stare of an owl, the piercing gaze of a wolf, the camouflaged eyes of insects, the hypnotic patterns in butterfly wings, or the eyespots of exotic fish. Artists can explore the beauty and power of eyes found in the natural world, from the depths of the ocean to the highest mountaintops.

Technological Vision: The Digital Age & AI Eyes: With the rise of technology, how we see the world is evolving. Surveillance cameras, biometric scans, AI-generated faces, VR and AR realities—how does technology redefine sight? Explore how human perception is intertwined with machines, digital reality, and futuristic vision.

Celestial & Cosmic Eyes: The Universe Watching Us: Expand beyond earthly vision and explore celestial wonders—galaxies resembling watchful eyes, planetary storms shaped like pupils, the legendary "Eye of God" nebula. The universe holds mysteries we are only beginning to perceive.

Abstract Eyes: Expressing the Essence of Vision: Not all eyes need to be realistic. Experiment with abstraction, surrealism, and conceptual interpretations—depicting vision, perception, or the simple idea of being seen. Kandinsky, Picasso, and Magritte have all used eyes as powerful symbols in abstract compositions. How will you?

Eyes of the Future: Evolution & Transhumanism: Will human eyes evolve? Will technology enhance sight, or will artificial intelligence replace our gaze? Explore biomechanical visions, futuristic eyes, transhumanist aesthetics, and the blending of organic and synthetic vision.

Styles

The theme of “Eyes” in visual art encompasses a vast spectrum of styles, from the realistic portrayal of individuals to the abstract and surreal. Artists have harnessed the inherent allure of eyes to convey emotion, symbolism, and social commentary.

The eyes, whether they belong to a subject in a portrait or serve as a symbolic gateway, continue to captivate viewers and serve as a testament to the enduring power of visual art to communicate complex ideas and emotions, through various art styles such as:

Portraiture: Perhaps the most obvious category where eyes take center stage. Leonardo da Vinci's iconic "Mona Lisa" is a prime example, with the enigmatic smile and those piercing eyes drawing viewers into an eternal gaze.

Surrealism: Surrealist artists often embraced the surreal and dreamlike quality of eyes in their work. Salvador Dalí's "The Elephants" features elongated, spindly-legged creatures burdened with giant, drooping eyes, creating a surreal and unsettling atmosphere.

Symbolism: Eyes can also hold symbolic significance. Rene Magritte's "The False Mirror" depicts an eye as a window to another world, symbolizing the idea of perception and the unknown.

Social Commentary: In contemporary art, eyes are used to convey powerful social and political messages. JR's "Ellis Island" installation features larger-than-life photographs of immigrants' eyes, emphasizing their humanity and shared dreams.

Abstract Art: Even in the realm of abstraction, eyes can make their presence felt. Wassily Kandinsky's "Composition VIII" utilizes geometric shapes and bold colors to create a sense of movement and emotion, reminiscent of the expressive power of eyes.
