The Pacific States Biennial North American printmaking exhibition is open to all artists 18 years or older presently residing anywhere on the North American continent, its islands, and outlying US territories. This premier Hawai’i biennial exhibition is hosted in conjunction with the UH Hilo Mookini Library. The PSBN will mail a color exhibition catalog to each participating artist and the PDF catalog will be viewable online at: hilo.hawaii.edu/depts/art/gallery

Althea Murphy-Price has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout North America and abroad. Solo and small group exhibits include the Tennessee Arts Commission, The Union for Contemporary Art, The Knoxville Museum of Art, The Arnoff Center for the Arts, The Print Center, Woman Made Gallery, The Artist’s Collective and California College of the Arts. Juror:
Althea Murphy-Price has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout North America and abroad. Solo and small group exhibits include the Tennessee Arts Commission (Nashville, TN), The Union for Contemporary Art (Omaha, NE), The Knoxville Museum of Art (Knoxville, TN), The Arnoff Center for the Arts (Cincinnati, OH), The Print Center, (Philadelphia, PA), Woman Made Gallery (Chicago IL), The Artist’s Collective (Houston, TX) and California College of the Arts, (Oakland, CA). International exhibited cities include Shanghai, China, Tokyo Japan and Tidaholm, Sweden, Venice, Italy and Santander, Spain.
Her work has been included in the publications of Art Papers Magazine, CAA Reviews, Contemporary Impressions Journal, Art in Print, MAPC Journal, and the UK publication Printmaking Today and textbooks, Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Process., and Printmakers Today. Additionally, she has held residencies at the Frank Llyod Wright School, the University of Hawaii, Hilo, The Vermont Studio Center, The Venice Printmaking Studio, and the Scuola Internationale di Graphica. She has lectured at multiple institutions including Vanderbilt University, Wellesley College, Boston University, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
Murphy-Price received a B.A. from Spelman College, an M.A. from Purdue University, and an M.F.A. from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Awards:
First place: Artist residency at the University of Hawaii at Hilo to cover travel, lodging, per diem, and honorarium. Additional purchase awards will be selected from the exhibition.

Open to all artists 18 years or older presently residing anywhere on the North American continent, its islands, and outlying US territories. Entries from Mexico and Canada are welcome.

Specifications:
Original work in all printmaking media and digital/traditional hybrid prints are eligible. No photography or digital reproductions of original works will be accepted. Works must be completed within the last 2 years. UH Hilo will mat and frame the works selected for the exhibition. The paper size dimension for submitted work must not exceed 30” x 40” or it cannot be framed/exhibited. Please measure/trim your selected work exactly to ensure that it does not exceed these maximum dimensions. Selection will be based on juror review of jpeg image(s) that have been prepared and submitted following CaFÉ entry media specifications. No original work should be sent until requested. Work submitted following juror selection must correspond to the CaFÉ entry for the PSBN. Work that does not correspond to the accepted online entry will not be included in the exhibition.
Accepted work must be sent without mat or frame in a sturdy, reusable mailing tube or flat package and sent to arrive by the accepted work deadline. All work in the exhibition must be available for the duration of the exhibition. Artists selected for the show implicitly agree to the rules and specifications of the PSBN. Artists will be responsible for the return of their artworks. Artists must include a return shipping label with their shipped artworks. All participating artists will receive one color catalog of the exhibition at no cost. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the return of the work. The University of Hawaii at Hilo reserves the right to use digital images submitted for the catalog and for publicity purposes. Juror selected PSBN works will be exhibited at the UH Hilo Mookini Library. Sales will include a 20% commission.
