San Marino League Art Matters 2026

Calling All Artists!

We welcome your participation in Art Matters!  

To celebrate our 50-year partnership with ArtCenter College of Design, the San Marino League is holding our biannual gala,ART MATTERS 2026, at the ArtCenter College of Design on May 29, 2026.

Major donors, sponsors and art collectors will attend.

We raise funds for the fine arts scholarships at ACCD and the Huntington's Japanese Garden endowment.  Proceeds from sales are split 50/50 between our causes.

We split all sales with you 50/50.

All art must be original.  No AI or computer generate art. There is a $35.00 entry fee for up to two pieces.

Our average sale is $1500, with the top art going for no more than $5000. 

Our featured artists for the night are: Peter Adams, Sigrid Burton, Jason Situ, and Thalia Stratton.

Art Matters 2026 

We urge you to submit up to two high resolution photos no larger than 5 mb each. This will be a juried exhibition and sale,including works from both established artists and emerging talent.

Submissions:  

• Paintings: oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache/tempera
• Drawings
  • Charcoal
  • Pastels (Oil and Chalk)
  • Pen and Ink
• Printmaking: Etching, Lithography, Screenprinting, Woodcut:
• Mixed Media
• Metal

All artwork will be juried and for sale if chosen for display.

All art applications must be submitted via CaFE.

Size and Preparation:

• Maximum size is 864 square inches (excluding fame).
• Minimum size:  64 square inches (excluding frame)
• Art must be framed and ready for display with either screw eyes or D-rings and strong wire.
• Art chosen will delivered to ArtCenter May 27.
• Because the expense of shipping is prohibitive, we are keeping the call regional.

Fees:

• $35 for up to two entries
• Enter all art at the same time.
• Entry fee is non-refundable, however it is free for you to sign up with CaFE.
• Featured artists, San Marino League members and Art Center students and faculty are free.  San Marino League coupon code use SMLMember at checkout and  active Art Center students and faculty use code ACCDSF.
• Commissions:
• The San Marino League will split the sale price on chosen art 50/50% with the artist
• The SML proceeds are divided equally between Fine Arts Scholarships and ArtCenter College of Design and the our Japanese Garden Endowment at the Huntington.

Jurors:

• Julie Joyce is the ArtCenter VP for Exhibitions in Pasadena, Ca.
• Karen Hackett owned Triage Art Gallery in Pasadena and is an art consultant.
• Laura Whitcomb is an international art curator, author and occasional blogger on matters of art.

Featured Artists:

Our featured artist are chosen from a list of outstanding painters who represent a wide variety of styles and mediums.  We are proud to announce our 2026 Featured Artists: Peter Adams, Sigrid Burton, Jason Situ, and Thalia Stratton.

Local artists are highly encouraged to apply for the juried show.  The mediums and sizes are detailed above.  Your art needs to be delivered directly to the Art Center College of Design.
