The Greene Fellowship’s mission is to support visionary artists in Colorado and Western North Carolina in creating meaningful and boundary-pushing work, and to carve spaces for them to share this work within their communities, inspiring creativity and cultural discourse.
The Greene Fellowship awards emerging contemporary artists unrestricted grants of $50,000 to support their practice and develop their business. The funding is disbursed in 4 quarterly payments of $12,500 and includes individual mentoring sessions and professional development resources. We seek artists who can demonstrate a high level of technical skill, a strong dedication to their creative practice, and a unique voice that advances the conversation of contemporary art in a meaningful way.
The Greene Fellowship will give two awards in 2026. Award recipients will be announced in mid-February, with a culminating exhibition in the winter of 26/27.
The Greene Fellowship was founded in 2022, in loving memory of Bradford W. Greene. Co-founders Alexander Blume and Hannah Agosta created this fellowship to honor Brad's generosity and unwavering support of artists. They hope that the unrestricted stipend, in addition to mentorship and professional development training at a critical point in an artist's career, will push the needle forward for them in a meaningful way, leading to increased visibility and sustainability.
The Greene Fellowship is reserved for working artists in the field of contemporary visual art and living in Colorado or Western North Carolina. We look for artists with a well-developed portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill, commitment, and authentic voice. As a critical part of this fellowship, artists will be given access to experienced professionals working in the field of visual art, as well as business leaders and experts who can guide them in their professional development. Artists will be expected to participate in monthly workshops with these professionals, in addition to mentorship sessions with our co-founders. Towards the end of the fellowship, artists will showcase the work they've made throughout the year at a culminating exhibition (location and date to be determined).
Selection Criteria
Artists will be asked to submit 5-10 portfolio samples (images or videos), which demonstrate a high level of skill and commitment to their practice. Videos must be 60 seconds or shorter. Artists will be asked to submit a clear and concise artist statement explaining the concepts and mediums they work with and why. Artists will also be asked what obstacles they face, how this award would impact their lives, and what their vision for the future looks like.
