Open Call for Artists: Sanctuary
Theme: An investigation of place as refuge, retreat, and safety—or the poignant lack thereof.
As the year draws to a close, we invite artists to explore the idea of Sanctuary. A concept that resonates deeply within our current cultural and environmental climate. This exhibition seeks to examine the multifaceted nature of refuge: the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual spaces where we seek solace or confront its absence.
We encourage submissions that investigate the tension between safety and exposure, belonging and isolation, intimacy and inaccessibility. Sanctuary may manifest as an interior space of healing, a sacred natural site under threat, a mental construct of protection, or a critique of the barriers that prevent access to peace and privacy.
This theme offers fertile ground for reflection on what it means to find (or lose) a sense of place.

Our Mission:
At SlipStitch Studio, we believe art isn’t just something you buy—it’s something you experience. Our gallery amplifies artist stories through thoughtful curation and genuine community connection. With The Gray Hare, we’re bringing artisans into the fold, gathering the best of the Pacific Northwest’s creativity under one roof.
Our Intention:
For us, the question was never how to sell art. The real question was: how do we bring people back into the gallery not just as customers, but as witnesses, participants, and co-creators? SlipStitch was built on a belief that art isn’t a product, it’s purpose. Intention matters. Materials speak. And when craft and concept align, something authentic happens. Every exhibition begins with why. Why this story? Why this medium? Why now? We don’t show art just for art’s sake we show it because it sparks reflection, connection, and conversation that matter.
Each artist brings a question. We create the space where those questions unfold, and where people can find their own answers. We’re not dealers we’re partners. We’re in it for the long game, building relationships with artists, with our community, and with those who see art as an investment in culture, emotion, and transformation.
