Lumen

Verum Ultimum invites artists to interpret the theme "LUMEN," & the boundless notions this word conjures. In Latin it means light and light is the ethereal enigmatic muse that all artists cling to. The term may propel ideas of an emanating force that echoes the properties of light.  Lumen is also the unit of measurement for light. How does the presence of light (and dark) impact your work or process?  Does a light source drive your expression?  Perhaps you use illuminating or reflective materials to captivate the viewer?  Or maybe you illustrate light itself, or you see it as a metaphor to describe anything (even people)?  Artists are encouraged to enter work that is any interpretation of the call. The intention of the call is not to dictate the meaning but rather discover unique visions.  ALL MEDIUMS and modes of expression are welcome (from abstraction to illustrative, surreal, and beyond).

“In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.” – Aaron Rose

LUMEN

Verum Ultimum invites artists to interpret the theme "LUMEN," & the boundless notions this word conjures. In Latin it means light and light is the ethereal enigmatic muse that all artists cling to. The term lumen may propel ideas of an emanating force that echoes the properties of light (light fills spaces, changes moods, and nourishes everything).  Lumen is also the term used for measuring units of light. The word LUMEN may speak to aspects of your work or creative process...How does the presence of light and dark play a role in your work or process?  Does the influence of a light source drive your expression?  Perhaps you use illuminating and reflective qualities of materials and layering to captivate the viewer?  Or maybe you illustrate light itself, or you see it as a symbolic vehicle or metaphor to describe nearly anything (even people)?  Artists are encouraged to enter work that is any interpretation of the call. The intention of the call is not to dictate the meaning but rather discover unique visions.  ALL MEDIUMS and modes of expression are welcome (from abstraction to illustrative, surreal, and beyond). Please read full description below for dates and details.
