At Hot Works, we prioritize the quality of the artwork and the artist-patron relationship. We feature only original, handmade art by the artist present in the booth. To foster an environment that encourages meaningful connections between artists and buyers, we intentionally avoid distractions like loud music and food vendors.
With over 35 years of experience in event production and media, our principal partner, Patty Narozny, brings a wealth of expertise, integrity, and passion to every Hot Works event. Her leadership ensures that our shows are not only profitable but also fulfilling for all involved.
Why Choose a Hot Works Show?
Institute for the Arts & Education (IA&E) is the non-profit arm of Hot Works events, focused on visual arts, cultural diversity, community enrichment, and fostering youth art education.
West Bloomfield, Michigan, is an upscale community known for its scenic beauty and elegant homes. Located near the prestigious Cranbrook Art Institute in neighboring Bloomfield Hills.
West Bloomfield has also been recognized by Money Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live." Our West Bloomfield Art Show has been honored 12 times as one of Sunshine Artist’s Top 100 Art Shows in America and has received numerous accolades from Michigan Festivals & Events. If you’re seeking back-to-back Michigan shows, this event follows the Ann Arbor show, located just 45 minutes away.
The Media
With over 35 years of media and event experience, we have the expertise to effectively market our shows to the right audience. Our comprehensive advertising and promotional efforts span television, print, radio, and digital platforms such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Additionally, we utilize large street banners, posters, and postcards to engage the local community.
The Jury & Submitting Your Artwork
A panel of experienced art professionals carefully juries each Hot Works show. Selection criteria include originality, technique, execution, and booth presentation. Submit three images of your most compelling work and one of your booth set up as it will appear at the show.
After the jury process, you will be notified of your acceptance, rejection, or waitlist status. Upon acceptance, booth fees are due 60 days prior to the event. Artists who are selected as alternates will be placed on a waiting list. All jury decisions are final. Booth assignments will be available on the website approximately two weeks before the show. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions at any time.
Budding Artist Competition - $250 in Awards
As part of our dedication to art education, we host a Youth Art Competition for students in grades 6-12 or ages 9-19. Their original artwork will be displayed all weekend under the “Youth Art” tent, where students will experience being part of a professional art show. The competition offers $250 in awards and helps bring families to the event, providing exposure to art for those who might not have otherwise attended.
Our Commitment to You at Hot Works and the Institute for the Arts & Education, we are proud of the success and national recognition our events have garnered. We hope you take pride in contributing to that success. We are always available to address any questions or concerns you may have. Our goal is to make participating in our shows as rewarding and seamless as possible.

Application Requirements
Rules and Guidelines for Hot Works Events
- Original and Handmade Art: All artwork must be original and handcrafted by the artist and sold in person at the show. Selling items not made by the artist or misrepresenting the work or oneself is strictly prohibited. Manufactured items are not allowed. Non-compliance may result in the removal of unacceptable items and potential closure of the booth without a refund. The artist in the booth must be the individual who created the work. If more than one person contributed to the artwork, this must be disclosed on the application, detailing each person’s role in the creation of the pieces.
- Artist Presence: Artists are required to be present for the duration of the show and must personally staff their booths. A government-issued photo ID must be available at check-in upon request.
- Collaborative Work: If two or more artists collaborate on a piece, they must apply jointly. Only collaborative works in which each artist significantly contributes to the creation process may be exhibited. Ancillary activities like matting or framing do not qualify as collaboration.
- Booth Display: Your booth display at the show should closely resemble the booth photo submitted during the jury process. If any misrepresentation is detected, the show director has the sole discretion to request the removal of the display without a refund. Booth integrity is essential to maintaining the reputation of the event.
- Fiber/Bead Artists: Beading that is considered sophisticated and an art form in itself may be accepted. However, merely stringing purchased beads does not meet Hot Works’ standards. These applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with the decision being final.
- Booth Setup: Booths must stay within the assigned space. The front of the tent should align with others in the same row, with no items protruding into public spaces or other artists' areas. No booth appendages are allowed, except for awnings that do not interfere with emergency vehicle access. A 2-foot space behind your booth is available for storage. Any booth-related damages are the responsibility of the artist.
- Booth Sharing: Booths may not be shared unless all artists are represented in the juried images.
- Generators: Outdoor generators are allowed but must be placed at least 20 feet away from tents and structures. Generators should not cause disturbances. If using a generator, you must provide a fire extinguisher certified within the last year and disclose the generator details in your application and a minimum of three weeks before the show.
- Prints and Reproductions: These are allowed if clearly labeled and limited to 30% or less of the displayed work. Photography, digital, or giclée art prints must be limited to editions of 250 or fewer, signed and numbered, and printed on archival-quality materials.
- Definition of Photography: Photography is defined as the creation of images using light-sensitive surfaces or digital printing processes. Digital art prints must originate from the artist's digital file.
- Sufficient Inventory: Artists must have enough work to display and sell for the entire show duration. Artists who pack up or leave early may be excluded from future Hot Works events unless an emergency is proven.
- Artist Package: An artist package will be emailed upon receipt of booth payment; a map and artist listing provided will be sent about ten days prior to the event
- Mailing Lists: Artists are encouraged to develop a mailing list for each city where they exhibit. Hot Works can provide postcards upon request.
- Booth Assignments: Booth assignments are at the discretion of the event organizers and are typically non-interchangeable. While Hot Works will attempt to accommodate special location requests, no guarantees can be made. Corner booths are available for an additional fee and are assigned based on availability.
- Trailer Access: Artists with trailers must notify Hot Works of the trailer size at least three weeks before the event for logistical planning.
- Hot Works Tents for Art Shows offers Light Dome tent rentals $350; with optional ProPanels $500, are available for rent to artists. Rental tents are professionally installed prior to artist arrival and removed following the event, and includes weights and sidewalls.
- Tents: Heavier-duty tents such as Light Dome Canopy or Show-Off Canopy are recommended. Pop-up canopies are not ideal, as they are less stable in windy conditions. All tents must be weighted down with a minimum of 50 pounds at each corner. Artists using pop-up canopies should take precautions to prevent ponding water, such as using swim noodles or hula hoops in the corners of the tent. At night, tents should be lowered in case of bad weather. Commercial tents are available for rental.
- Tent Rental Policy
- Artists are welcome to set up and use their own tent that meets the event requirements.
Outside tent rental companies are not permitted to deliver, install, remove, or service tents at any Hot Works art show.
This policy is in place due to: - Agreements with the host city and venue.
- Existing agreements with authorized vendors serving Hot Works events.
- Insurance and liability requirements.
- Event logistics and safety considerations.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe, professional, and efficiently managed event.
- Ground Displays: Artwork may not be displayed on the ground unless pre-approved by the event and shown in the booth image submitted during application.
- Artist Signage: Hot Works will provide an artist name sign. Vinyl banners are not permitted. Additional signage must be approved by Hot Works.
- Booth Inspections: Booths will be inspected on-site to ensure all rules are followed.
- Sales Tax: Artists are responsible for collecting and remitting Michigan’s 6% sales tax. Forms can be obtained from the State of Michigan.
- Artist Statement: Including an artist statement describing your process, materials, and any notable achievements is encouraged. Please also list any recent awards or honors.
- Hot Works is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of its shows and fostering a successful experience for artists. We appreciate your compliance with these rules and look forward to working with you!
