Lake Effect Artists Collective Summer Show 2026

You are invited to be a part of the 2026 Lake Effect Artist’s Annual Outdoor Summer Art Show, Sat 7/4 & Sun 7/5! We are very excited to bring back this amazing 2-day event to along the beautiful West Michigan lakeshore here in Stony Lake/Shelby, MI...
We are all about the Artists here--this show is put on by Artists for Artists! We are reaching out looking for Creatives who are passionate about their Art and work, and looking for an opportunity to showcase it, sell it, and gain exposure to a new audience and crowd that is very receptive and supportive of the Arts. If that sounds like you than this is a show you don’t want to miss being a part of!

This soft-juried outdoor show will feature local, regional, and out-of-state Artists from every creative discipline of Art: 2-D and 3-D, Pottery, Glass, Metalworks, Sculpting, Painting, Jewelry, Textile, Woodmakers, more!

We'll be using our soft-jury panel more as a tool to bring a balance and variety of Mediums exhibiting...to avoid over-saturation we will be capping category entries such as jewelry and pottery.
Although we are expanding the property space for our Art showsetup, we are limiting the number of Artist booths to a Max of 40 to increase
the opportunity for a successful show for each of the individual participating Artists.  We encourage Artists to register now and reserve your booth space!


 

We are making available a reduced EARLYBIRD REGISTRATION Fee of $29.75  until April 1!
We are expecting a great crowd! This Art Show is part of a Fourth of July weekend of celebrations and activities in the Stony Lake area, and is collaborated to coincide with another hugely popular and well attended Annual event, the Stony Lake Sparkler 5K, http://stonylakesparkler.com/ 
being held just 1/2 mile down the road from our Show’s venue site the same weekend...the Sparkler Run has surpassed more than 1900 registered participants from MI and all over the country and draws a huge crowd!  We work closely with them and get a lot of the crowd from this event that attend the Art Show! 

The Stony Lake/Shelby area is located along the lakeshore, 30 minutes North of Muskegon and just 15 minutes South of Pentwater!
We are excited to also welcome selected quality food truck vendors to our event this year!

Application/Registration fee: $35 


We run a very successful ongoing marketing campaign to actively promote the show that includes  promoting and marketing the show with distribution of posters, handouts, digital media, editorials and newspaper coverage, posting Ads and distributing signs. We want people to attend! And we want YOU to be a part of it! Bring your unique, individual Art and creations for people to see and enjoy!


ARTIST CATEGORIES

This year for the first time we are creating a new category, and welcoming Emerging Artists ... specifically designed with current Art Students and newly graduated Art Majors to give these Artists a platform and a voice, and opportunity to showcase and display their portfolio work and focus of study to a new and appreciative audience--whether it be Painting, Sculpture, Drawing, Textile, Metalwork, etc.! We are offering special Registration pricing for those of you that qualify for this group of Emerging Artists participants, with a one time Administrative fee of $25 to register to be a part of the 2026 Summer show which will also cover reserving your Booth space! The Lake Effect Artists Summer show will feature Fine Art and High Crafts, All Art must be original and hand made by the Artist. These are the accepted category fields:

*** ARTISTS PLEASE NOTE:WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ANY FURTHER APPLICATIONS IN THE JEWELRY CATEGORY... THAT CATERGORY IS FULL!

• CERAMICS/POTTERY:  All original clay work is acceptable in this category. No machine-made or mass-produced work is permitted. Painted greenware is not eligible. 
• DRAWING:  Original works executed in pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastels, pen, ink, etc.
• GLASS:  Original works only. No mass production work is permitted.
• JEWELRY:  Jewelry will be capped at 25%. ***PLEASE NOTE AS OF MAY 8, 2026, THE JEWELRY CATEGORY IS FILLED AND WE WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS IN THAT CATEGORY! ***Thank you for your interest.
• METALWORK:  Functional or sculptural works in copper, steel, pewter, or other metals.
• MIXED MEDIA:  Includes 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional work that incorporates more than one type of material.
• PAINTING:  Oil, acrylic, watercolor, resin, tempera, encaustic, etc.
• PHOTOGRAPHY:   Prints made from the artist’s original image must be processed by the artist or under artist’s direct supervision. Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing process, especially with regards to any manipulation.
• PRINTMAKING:  Hand-pulled original prints that are signed and numbered in by the artist.
• SCULPTURE:  Three-dimensional original work done in any medium.
• TEXTILES:  Includes basketry, weaving, leather, fabrics and fine wearables. No machine tooling.
• WOODWORK:  Original hand-tooled, machine worked, or carved work.
• EMERGING ARTISTS: For upcoming Artists, currently immersed in studying or newly graduated Art Majors, covering all fields of the Arts

FOR ARTISTS

• Free Artist parking is provided in a private lot 1/2 block down the street. License plate info will be requested at check-in and parking pass given
• Bathroom facilties.
• Participating Artists are listed on website 
• Complimentary bottled water
• Complimentary early morning coffee
• Easy load in/ load out
• Complimentary discount for Food trucks
• Free WI-FI      
• No electric or outlets available to Artists booths. Artists are responsible to provide their own battery operated power generator if needed.

Artists should arrive by 8 AM on Sat. July 4 to check-in and get their booth space number. License plate number info will be required at check-in and parking pass given. Easy load in/ load out… Artist will be directed to their reserved booth space…you may drive up as close as you can to unload PLEASE NOTE: Once you unload, and BEFORE you start setting up, you MUST move your vehicle to the lot that is assigned for Artists parking , to allow other Artists to be able to unload their things.

•  Free designated Artist parking lot is provided 1/2 block down the street
•  Please respect and follow this and do not begin setting up your tent, display, etc, until you have moved your vehicle. 
• You may not park on the venue grounds
• Your display must be completely finished being set up before/by 10:30 AM, and ready to receive guests... people show up early!
• Each Artist is responsible to collect their own sales
• Each Artist is responsible to keep track of and report any MI Sales tax owed to the state of MI
• Each Artist is responsible for their own Art pieces, tent; display, and the protection of items. Lake Effect Artists Collective cannot be held  liable for any accident, accidental damage. theft, or loss during this show.
• There will be video security provided the overnight hours of July 4-5, It is the responsibility of the Artist to take measures to secure their booth and contents of anything left over overnight Sat night, July 4-5, to securely close up/ protect their tent and contents.
• The Lake Effect Artists are not responsible for any loss of equipment or goods that are not secured properly
• Artists are required to use the free designated Artist parking area, unless otherwise clearing it with Admin in advance. 
• Artists must be in their tent, completely set up and ready for patrons at least 1/2 hour prior to the posted start /opening time of the show which would make it:  Sat. July4, 10:30--5, and Sun. July 5, 10:30--4...
• Artist must remain with their tent and Artwork for the duration of the Art show...
• Artists may not leave, close down, or pack up early, prior to the shows closing time which is: 5 PM Sat. 7/4, and 4 PM on Sun. 7/5.
• Artists may start taking down their show and loading on Sun after 4 PM. Vehicles will not be allowed to drive up onto the grounds to load up until after that time.

BOOTH INFO

•  Booth spaces are approximately 10' wide by 10' deep with at least 2 feet between booths.
•  Double booth space is approx 10'x20'  available on a limited basis.
•  Because we are Artists and Makers we are very aware of the investment in making and showing great Art...we have made it our   
   commitment to create quality shows while keeping the out of pocket cost to the Artist to the minimum...Our low booth fees reflect that. 
   The total two -day rental  fee for a single booth space is $60.
•  Double booths are available on  limited availability for $110. Because of the demand, availability is based on a first come--first pay basis.​​​​​​
•  You must use a canopy canvas tent on your booth space to display your Art. Preference is white. If you do not have a white canopy tent  please let the show director know in advance.
•  We recommend having sides on your tent to protect your Art from the elements. All displays should be wind-resistant and able to    withstand large crowds 
•  Water-resistant coverings and weights are highly recommended.   Stakes are not allowed. 
• These items will not be supplied by the Festival.  Artists must secure their booths with weights. The show is in an open-air field and can occasionally experience windy conditions. We recommend 40 lb weights to secure each leg/corner of your tent for the best results.   
•  
• Be prepared to cover the contents of your tent with plastic or tarp when it is left overnight to further protect it from weather or AM dew.          
• Only accepted artists may exhibit works within their assigned booths. Subletting booth space is prohibited.
   
• Artist name, business name, clear indication of the type of Art you are selling should be shown prominently as part of your booth display 
•  
• Prices for all exhibited artwork must be clearly noted on or beside each piece, or a clearly read price list near to items
•  Booths may not be shared with another Artist unless approved by show Director in advance  
•  Your displays must be professional and pleasing to the eye. Please avoid hand made signs.
•  It is requested that you cover your tables with some kind of tablecloth or skirted covering.
•  Put thought into your booth space, and organize your display in such a way to attract viewers, and also to make it as easy as possible for  
   patrons to be able to move freely inside your booth to be able to closely view your work!

           Think of your display as a mini-gallery or boutique, it should be a reflection of who you are as an Artist and draw people in!

The Admin/ Application fee of $35 is non-refundable.  

Prior to 60 days before show, there is a partial refund of booth fees if Artist cancels...There is no refund of booth fees after 60 days prior to show.

In the case of the show being Cancelled by Lake Effect Artists for any reason, with the exception being an unforeseen  "Act of God", a refund will be provided to the Artists.

There is no booth fee refund for bad weather.
