The 21st Annual ArtWalk Liberty Station takes place in a beautiful park setting in San Diego's premier arts and culture district, Arts District Liberty Station. Booths are laid out in pods of two or four, giving every artist a corner space. Produced by the same team that brings Mission Fed ArtWalk to San Diego's Little Italy each Spring, the event is extremely well-marketed, drawing over 20,000 attendees each year. The event attracts both local art collectors as well as visitors vacationing in San Diego's upscale hotels. 

The fine art festival begins Friday, July 31st, with the Preview Party. Participation in the Preview Party is required. Please adjust plans accordingly!

As a participating artist you'll receive the benefit of an agressive marketing and public relations program, including local, regional and national publicity, print and broadcast advertising, as well as our large social media following.  Show management also provides marketing pieces for artists to distribute.

The venue has abundant free parking and a wide variety of restaurants, including the Liberty Public Market, a very busy and popular food hall.

Artists are not required to pay a sales commission.

Artists are asked to provide their own tents. White, professional display tents are required, and artists must weight the four corners of the tent. Additionally, your white weighted tent must have an official flame retardant stamp per fire regulation. 

If you would like to rent a tent, the cost is $300 for a 10' x 10' festival style canopy. This price reflects various cost increases including tenting, labor, and trucking. Each tent will come with two walls (to accommodate the corner) unless otherwise requested. 

We also feature a sculpture/3D art area surrounding a central rose garden, for artists who prefer no tent and do not require grid walls for their display. This area is ideal for sculpture, ceramic work, and art glass display.

Artists may install starting Friday morning, prior to the start of the festival's Preview Party on Friday afternoon. Friday's Preview Party event is a ticketed VIP reception, with special musical entertainment, food, and drink. It is mandatory for artists to participate in Friday's event on July 31st. The show is completely free to attend on Saturday and Sunday, but there will be a fence around the venue to allow attendees to freely stroll with beer and wine.

Parking is free and readily available adjacent to the venue. We provide handcarts and helpful volunteers to assist artists to move art from their vehicles to their spaces. Booth sitters are available.

• Only fine artists may participate. No buy/sell or imported items are allowed.
• The jury does not accept wearable art into the show, except for certain fine art jewelry. Please do not apply with clothing, purses, scarves, etc. 
• The application will be considered incomplete without a professional display photo.
• Your booth photo from a previous show is an extremely important part of your application. Only high-quality professional displays are accepted. That means. art on walls, not laying on tables. Pro-panels or similar type of professional hanging systems are expected. Your booth image must represent your actual display, and artists who do not represent their display accurately are not accepted for future shows.
• Artists may not display with easels. Easels can be easily knocked over and affected by wind. Additionally, work stacked on the ground is unacceptable.
• In your application, provide a photo that shows your artwork displayed utilizing grid walls, pro panels, flourish mesh panels, or another type of professional display system. 
• Artists must be present on site for the full hours of the festival, 10AM - 6PM on Saturday and 10AM - 5PM on Sunday.
• Artists must comply with all event safety requirements, non-smoking policy, and local and state laws.
• ArtWalk will provide the space from which to sell but artists must bring their own white, professional display tent, weighted on all four corners. Artists may rent a tent for an additional $300 for an ArtWalk provided 10x10 tent. Please select this option on the application.
• Artists may display without a tent if they prefer to have direct sunlight on their work. 
• It is mandatory for artists to participate in the Preview Party on Friday, August 1st.

Insurance Requirement:
All artists must have liability insurance and list three entities: Art for People, the City of San Diego and the Arts District Liberty Station.

San Diego City Business License: 
A San Diego business license is required for artists doing business in the City of San Diego for 6 or more days. Apply here: https://www.sandiego.gov/doing-business. 

California Seller's Permit:
All participating artists must have a California Board of Equalization issued seller's permit on hand, and file and pay State of California Sales and Use Tax. If you do not have a Sellers permit go to: https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/taxes-and-fees/faqseller.htm.

Security at Event:
ArtWalk Liberty Station employs daytime as well as overnight security guards and the large public park is fenced to facilitate alcohol consumpton in the venue. Event management is not responsible for items left overnight. The guards cannot physically be in every booth, so it is our recommendation you remove valuables overnight.  

Refunds:
We maintain a no refund policy once you have been accepted into the event and paid for your booth.

Rain or Shine Event:
This is a rain or shine event.  
 

The Individual Artist Package includes:

1. The opportunity for an artist to show and sell work directly to the public. Artist must bring their own white, professional display tent. Artists may pay an additional $300 for an ArtWalk provided 10x10 festival style tent. Please select this option on the application. Electricity is not available at this event.

Note: Two individual artists may not share one space.
Tent Space options:

• 10' x 10' – $650
• 10' x 20' – $1250
• 10' x 30' – $1850
• 20' x 20' – $2450

3. An Individual ArtWalk @ Liberty Station web page (prior to the event) to include:

• Individual artist name
• Full-color image of artist’s work linked to artist's website (website artist provides on this application)
• Artist booth number

The Group Artist Packages include:

1. The opportunity for a group to show and sell work directly to the public. Group participation is limited to established, permanent artist groups, there are no exceptions. Groups will be assigned to a minimum 10′ x 20′ space or larger based on group size (see below for specifics). Hanging materials, walls, displays, etc. must be furnished by the artist. Electricity is not available at this event.

• Up to 6 artists may select a minimum space of:10’ x 20’ OR 200 square feet — $1250
• Up to 10 artists may select a minimum space of: 10’ x 30’ OR 300 square feet — $1850
• More than 10 artists may select: 20’ x 20’ OR 400 square feet — $2450

Artists applying for a group booth must create one Zapp profile for the whole group of artists. Please do not create individual profiles for each member of the group.

2. Signage at artist’s location includes:

• Group name and tent number at location
• ArtWalk Liberty Station poster for groups with permanent studios

3. A Group ArtWalk LIberty Station Web Page (prior to the event) to include:

• Group name
• Full-color image representative of group’s work linked to group's website (website group provides on this application)
• Group booth number
